TxtDrop.com

txtDrop.com
Basics: Send text messages to cellular phones from the web

About: Although this site promotes raunchy ads and doesn't display it's information in a very user friendly layout, txtDrop.com has a positive side. This site lets you send text messages to any text-enabled wireless phone. You simply enter the number you wish to text, provide your email address and enter the message that you wish to send. Within seconds, your recepient will have a text message sent from your computer.

Pros: Send text messages with the ease of using your computer's key board. It doesn't cost you a thing and your texts get sent very quickly. You can also download the txtDrop widgets for either the Mac OS, Windows Vista or Myspace. All of these provide the same use and you can send text messages to your friends without having to pay for them!

Cons: Some of the ads take away from the web site's main purpose and can lead to dissapointment. You also can only recieve replys through your email account.

The Verdict:
5 > 4 > 3.5 > 2 > 1
We gave this site a 3.5. The ease of use and functionality of the site are great! But the ad content has nothing to do with what the site promotes and you can only receive replies through your email address. It's a great way to send quick messages to only one recepiant, but it's virtually worhtless if you are trying to have a conversation via text messages.

The First Post (1/15/08)
This blog has been set up to review and rate new, advanced sites on the internet. We spend hours each day researching and reviewing sites to find ones that we consider to be useful, attractive, and technologically advanced.
Check back frequently to find our most up-to-date collection of wonderful websites.

Our "Rating" System
We rank on a traditional "5-Star" grading system. With 5 being outstanding and 1 being avoidable.
This is an example of how we rate our sites:
5 > 4 > 3 > 2 > 1
[NOTE: The 4 is red/bold. This would mean that we give the site a ranking of 4 out of 5]

What do these numbers mean?
5=OUTSTANDING-- Flawless design and interface. Extremely useful site that does not get old.
4=GREAT--Better than average design/interface. Site is very useful.
3=GOOD--This is a site that can be useful to some but pointless to others. Great design and interface.
2=AVERAGE--Just your average site. Nothing special... Does not appeal to a mass crowd.
1=POOR--A site with a rating of 1 should be avoided at all costs.

We do rank on a ".5" system. A 4.5 falls somewhere between great and outstanding.
